CORRECT OPERATION

If elevating the vehicle off the ground, follow the appropriate procedure. Raise the wheel using the car jack, but then transfer the weight to a safety stand. Repeat for opposite wheel. Never get under a car that is supported by only a car jack; it could slip. Car jacks are meant for lifting the car enough to change the tire.

Use car ramps only to elevate the front end, never the rear end. Make sure the ramps are placed directly in front of the front tires before the car is driven onto them. The ramps need to be parallel to each other as well. Place the transmission into 1st or low gear and drive gently onto the ramps. If the car has an automatic transmission, put it in PARK, set the parking brake, turn off the engine and block the rear wheels. If it has a manual transmission, keep transmission in 1st, shut off the engine, and block the rear wheels.
